Energy bill calculator
Put in what you pay a month now and see roughly what the next price cap change could mean for you.
Checked 18 Oct 2026How it works
Ofgem's price cap limits the unit rates and standing charges suppliers can charge on standard variable tariffs. It changes every three months. This calculator takes your current monthly payment and scales it by the change in the typical capped bill, so you get a quick estimate before the change happens.
Frequently asked questions
Is this exact?
No, it's an estimate. Your real change depends on how much gas and electricity you use, your region, how you pay and your standing charges. Your supplier will tell you your new rates before they change.
Does it apply if I'm on a fixed deal?
No. A fixed tariff keeps your rates the same until it ends, whatever happens to the cap.
What can I do about a rise?
See our energy price cap page for the four steps: find your usage, compare fixed deals, only fix if it beats the cap, and take a meter reading on the day the change starts.
